Ellen leads a team that helps TI Vendor Strategy professionals predict and quantify disruptions in the technology industry to better direct firm and product/solution direction. Ellen is responsible for a team of analysts, data experts, and consultants who help strategists quantify the structural shifts in the technology industry, realize the opportunity of new business models, and understand the emerging technologies that will seed disruptions.
Ellen's team currently looks deeply at the spread of computing intelligence into business process and assets ("smart computing"); the tailoring of tech solutions to fit industry-specific opportunities; and emerging IT categories like xAAS/cloud, mobility, globalization, innovation, and sustainability. Ellen's team focuses on supporting all analysis with deep business and IT buyer behavior insight with Forrester Business Data Services — a global data set of buyer attitudes, motivations, preferred vendors, and purchase intent of technology solutions. She is frequently quoted in the press in business publications like The Wall Street Journal, and has appeared on Bloomberg TV and CNBC.
Ellen has been with Forrester since 2005, leading various research organizations and building Forrester's business in telecom, quantitative forecasting expertise, and tech industry markets.
Prior to joining Forrester in 2005, Ellen spent four years at ArcStream, a boutique mobile and wireless consulting firm to the Fortune 500. Prior to that, she worked in Deloitte's telecom practice. Her projects included architecting large-scale systems for local service provisioning and billing for North American carriers, preparing UMTS bids for the Italian wireless marketplace, and assisting new business entrants into the UK Web hosting market. Prior to Deloitte, Ellen spent 10 years working for the federal government in the Department of Defense (DOD) as an electrical engineer and physicist. She worked in wired and wireless communication at the Naval Research Laboratory and SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation).
Ellen holds a B.S. in physics from Rochester Institute of Technology and an M.S. in electrical engineering from George Mason University.
