Executive Summary

To help storage marketers better understand storage buyers, we asked a set of storage-oriented questions about vendors, adoption of emerging storage technologies, and top storage priorities in our annual survey of enterprise IT infrastructure decision-makers. Among many things, we learned that firms' storage priorities are consistent across regions and are centered on fundamental storage operations, and emerging storage technologies such as storage virtualization haven't hit the mainstream. We also learned that vendor sourcing strategies vary significantly between regions: Hewlett-Packard (HP) dominates in Europe, while EMC dominates in North America, and 41% of European firms source their storage from a single vendor versus 28% of North American firms.
